Scranton, bitches!!
Okay, it sounds a lot better coming from Snookie’s piehole. But I tried.
Scranton, bitches!!
After landing in Scranton yesterday, I made my way around town - first stop was The Banshee for a meet and greet (which was totally awesome, by the way. I met a lot of cool promoters, managers, bookers and MANY awesome fellow musicians), next stop Scranton U; then to the hotel to take a nap (I was going on a full 24hrs with no real sleep - because I don’t care what you say, crappy airplane sleep DOES NOT COUNT).

After a much needed nap and shower, I hit the town fresh and grabbed a quick slice of pie - ‘cause you know, a girl’s gotta eat. There was a huge Labor Day event going on - La Festa - they’ve been doing this for the last 35+ years. Psyched for my next stop, The Steamtown Original Music Showcase Festival, I gathered myself and did a mini-prep for the show at 10pm. Sometimes I like to sit quietly with my notebook, just to focus myself a bit.
I walked in with my guitar a little early - wanted to catch the other awesome acts before me. Then it was time - and boy, did I have a great set. The people of Scranton were very receptive - super friendly and supportive of new original music. I had a blast. After selling a bunch of CD’s afterwards, I met a few kick-ass bands - I was even asked onstage by The Donovan Rice Band - we did a very cool Beatles cover. I loved the spontaneity!
The festival was amazing. Lots of amazing talent on the East Coast, fo ‘sho. And all of the musicians had such a great energy - it’s great to get together with fellow musicians who still have that desire to do good shit. Thank you John Philips for putting together such a great event. Everything ran according to plan - and you put on a hell of a showcase. I hope to be a part of this again next year!
Scranton, you did well my friend.
Now, on to the next town - Penn State Harrisburg…stay tuned:).
