Goodbye, PA! How YOU doin’, NY?
After I said goodbye to Abington, we dropped the car off and caught the Greyhound to NEW YORK CITY, BABY!! I’ve never transitioned states via bus - so this was bound to be interesting…
I kinda dug it. Besides the ‘no bathrooms’ thing (if you know me, you’ll know that I have a bladder the size of an infant…and there’s something about knowing you can’t pee that makes you wanna pee more…) I quite enjoyed sight-seeing on my way to NY. Planes and airports are so stressful - and when you get on the plane there’s not much to see besides specks of life from your throne thousands of feet in the sky. And driving can be equally stressful…making sure you don’t end up somewhere creepy. I enjoyed the trees, seeing different kinds of houses, cows, funny billboards…all while listening to my new discovery, A Fine Frenzy.

Two hours later, we were on some huge bridge and there she was - New York! Tower after tower, the buildings fought to see who could touch the sky first. The day was gorgeous - and the bus took us along the Hudson River. Everyone was so excited to soak up the sun (as was I)! After we stepped out into Manhattan, first things first - we caught the Subway F line to Coney island - we would be staying there for the next couple of days.

After getting all settled in, I showered, grabbed my guitar and back to Manhattan I went for my first show in NY at Googie’s Above The Living Room. The show went fantastic (minus my pickup acting up) - and we were able to meet up with a few friends living out in NY. After a kick-ass show, our friend Les took us to Lil’ Frankies…W-O-W. The pizza was freaking AMAZING! Very much like Mozza in L.A. If not a little better…it definitely tasted a lot like pizza in Rome. After dinner, we went to one of the coolest bars i’ve been to - Ace Bar. They have skee ball. Enough said.
The next day - I woke refreshed. And excited - because I was about to have my first day off SINCE I STARTED THIS CRAZY TOUR. So yay for me! I intended on soaking up the weekend in NY as much as I could. We started off with breakfast at Brown Cafe. Yum. Did a little shopping in the Village. Bagels around town. Then off to the Empire State Building at sunset….it was high. Super high. And gorgeous…

Then Sushi for dinner. A pitcher of Sapporo later, it was time to head back for some zzzzzzz…..
Stay tuned for the next two days in NY….:)k.
